Barmy Army takes a cheeky dig against David Warner after reports of his Test comeback surfaced

Former Australia opener, David Warner, has stated that he is ready to come out of retirement and offer himself to be picked in the playing XI for the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy against India. Warner had announced his retirement from the longest format of the game after the the Test series against Pakistan in 2024. He scored 8786 runs in 112 Test matches, smashing 26 centuries and 37 half-centuries.

“I’m always available, just got to pick up the phone. I’m always dead serious. Let’s be honest, the guys have played one red ball game (first round of the shield) since their last Test matches in February, so I’ve almost had the same preparation.

Honestly, if they really needed myself for this series, I’m more than happy to play the next Shield game and go out there and play. I did retire for the right reasons to finish the game, and I wanted to finish. (But) my hand is up if they desperately need someone. I’m not going to shy away from that,” Warner told Code Sports.

Now, England’s Barmy Army have taken a cheeky dig against Warner after he has offered himself back in the Test setup. They want their retired fast bowler, Stuart Broad, to come back from retirement if Warner is ready to play Test cricket yet again.

It is very widely known about the domination that Stuart Broad has had over Warner in his Test career. The Australian left-hander has been a bunny in the hands of Broad. The Englishman has dismissed Warner 17 times in the course of his long career. Broad always created an angle from around the wicket to Warner and troubled him in every instance, scalping his wicket majority of times.

The former Australian opener had made many technical adjustments but was never able to shy away from the difficulties that he faced against Broad. The Englishman’s figures against Warner in recent series have been particularly impressive and the Barmy Army has always trolled Warner with those stats.
