As per reliable sources, BCCI Secretary, Jay Shah, is set to be the new ICC Chairman. The reports have been floating round from the time Greg Barclay did not want to continue for the post for the third time after the end of his tenure on November 30.
As per reports, Barclay’s resignation is due to the “a $US3 billion ($4.46 billion) dispute between the governing body and its major broadcast rights holder Star.”
The same reports state that Shah has the support and backing of Cricket Australia, England and Wales Cricket Board and other full-time members for this post. However, neither Shah nor ICC has spoken anything officially regarding this matter. August 27 is the last date to file nominations for the post. An ICC Chairman can complete three terms with each term consisting of 2 years. Barclay has completed two terms and has hence served for 4 years.
