Veteran Indian batter Rahul Dravid’s son Samit Dravid made his debut in Karnataka’s Maharaja Trophy on the last day, and since then it has been a top interest for the cricket fans of India.

Rahul Dravid has been in the news greatly since he led India to a T20 World Cup triumph as their head coach. Many franchise teams have been targeting the veteran to have him as their mentor, with the Royals being the forerunners.

Now the internet has flooded with comments and mostly appreciation for the junior, as Samit took the field for the first time on Thursday.

An insight into the Maharaja Trophy match

Samit Dravid was roped in by the Mysuru Warriors during the auction of the Maharaja Trophy for a fee of INR 50,000. He stepped into the field for the first time against Namma Shivamoga.

The young all-rounder came in to bat at No. 4 for the Warriors and did not relish his first outing as he could add only 7 runs to the team total with just a single boundary in the innings.

Despite the low score, the fans were overjoyed by witnessing the ‘junior Dravid’ for the first time ever in franchise cricket.

The Mysuru Warriors went on to win the match after the first inning total went on to be 159 runs. They restricted their opponents to a 5/80 run total, which led them to a victory in a rain-affected match.

Speaking of young Dravid, despite his low score, he seemed to be a man full of confidence and courage, who is ready to take his game to the next level.

Samit has previously been featured in many promising tournaments of different age groups for the Karnataka State Cricket Association. He has been a promising batter for the side. He last won the Cooch Behar trophy with the Karnataka U-19 team.


“Samit Dravid’s first watch is not as stylish as his father. He has a big bat swing man. I’m so excited to see how he does in the rest of the KPL,”
