"He asked, do I know that a wicket has fallen?", Prithvi Shaw recalls how he was pranked by Virat Kohli

Prithvi Shaw arrived into the scenes as a young Indian batter who was compared to the likes of Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli. He made his Test debut in 2020 but since then his stars have only dropped and he has found himself away from the reckoning in the Indian team. However, he has certainly played in the Indian team with likes of great Kohli and Rohit Sharma. Recently, Shaw talked about one incident when Kohli played a prank on him.

Shaw recounted an incident involving Virat Kohli during a match against England where he was not playing. He mentioned that he was in the dressing room with Ashwin and Mohammed Shami when a wicket fell. Not hearing the ground noise from inside, they were near the washroom when Kohli approached him.

Shaw said that Kohli looked at him and inquired what he was doing there, then asked if he was aware that a wicket had fallen, urging him to check on it. Shaw explained that they were unaware that the lunch break had started because they had just been near the field. Kohli had sent him to check the situation on the field, only for Shaw to find it empty as everyone was at lunch. Kohli then revealed to him that lunch was on, and it was a prank.

โ€œIt was a game against England and I was in the dressing room. I was with Ash Bhai and Mohammed Shami. And someone got out. I was not playing that match. We donโ€™t hear the ground noise inside the dressing room. We were around the washroom, then Virat Bhai came into the washroom. Virat Bhai stared at me and asked What am I doing here? He asked, do I know that a wicket has fallen? And asked me to go check for the wicket,โ€ said Shaw on the ‘Focused Indian’ YouTube Channel.

โ€œNow we don’t know that lunch break was on because 10 minutes ago we were standing there, so this man made me run all the way to the ground, now I am seeing everyone, no one on the field, and then Virat Bhai said, you donโ€™t know the lunch is on,โ€ he added.
