Sri Lankan fast bolwer, Matheesha Pathirana, has been retained by the Chennai Super Kings franchise ahead of the 2025 IPL season. The pacer has been retained as the only overseas player, for a price tag of 13 Crore by CSK.
The fast bowler has been a part of franchise for the last 2 years. He has unsettled the world’s top batsmen with his precise, toe-crushing yorkers in the Indian Premier League. Apart from CSK, he has been a crucial asset to the Sri Lankan team in limited overs format.
In a recent interview, Matheesha Patihrana talked about his bond with former CSK and India captain, MS Dhoni. He appreciated the efforts and contributions, that have been put up by Dhoni, in order to make him a more successful bowler.
He stated,
” Mostly, he is playing my father’s role, because he always takes care of me and keeps giving me some advice, about what i have to do. Similar to my father, when i’m at home”. I think that’s enough” he added.
MS Dhoni has been a huge source of inspiration for many young cricketers aiming for success in their careers. His leadership, calm attitude, and success on the field have motivated aspiring players to work hard, stay focused, and believe in themselves. Many look up to him not only for his skills but also for his sportsmanship and the way he handles pressure, seeing him as a role model both on and off the field.
