24-year-old Hrithik Shokeen took a stunning catch in the third match of the Delhi Premier League 2024 on Sunday. Shokeen leads the West Delhi Lions in the ongoing inaugural edition of the tournament. He took a sensational catch while fielding at mid-off inside the circle at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi.
The incident happened on the fourth delivery of the 16th over in the first innings. West Delhi Lions bowler Rohit Yadav bowled a fuller delivery on the off-stump. Vaibhav Rawal, the left-hander, tried to clear the mid-off which was inside the circle. He made room and played it uppishly. Shokeen went back a touch, and then dived to his right to complete a spectacular catch.

Shokeen was part of the Mumbai Indians team in 2022 and 2023 seasons of IPL, but MI released him ahead of the start of IPL 2024. He went unsold in the IPL 2024 auction. He would be keen to put in a notable display in the Delhi Premier League so that he gets picked up in the IPL 2025 mega auction.
Talking about the game, North Delhi Strikers scored 144 runs in their quota of 20 overs. Shokeen picked up a wicket in his spell of three overs by giving away 24 runs. Hrithik Shokeen’s spectacular catch was, definitely, a highlight of the game.
Noted for his off-spin bowling, Hrithik Shokeen has showed promise in domestic cricket. Shokeen is a great value for his squad as he can turn the ball and also maintain accuracy. Scouts and team management have taken notice of his performance in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
In his IPL career, he has picked up five wickets in 13 matches played so far.
