India’s 24-year-old batter, Ayush Badoni, recently opened up on his performance in domestic cricket. He feels that he has not consistently performed over a period of time. Badoni wants to stay consistent and score as many runs as possible in the future.
He wants to have a big season for Delhi in domestic cricket. He wants to prove himself and take Delhi to the final stages. He wants to put more focus on his training and play big innings in domestic cricket.
“My performances have not been consistent. I will try to be consistent and score as many runs as possible. I need to take more responsibility for Delhi. My performances have been good, but I need to get more consistent so that Delhi can qualify for the latter stages of tournaments and win more games. More focus is necessary. I have also increased my practice hours to try and make bigger scores,” Badoni was quoted as saying by Hindustan Times.
Ayush Badoni is the leading run-scorer in Delhi Premier League in 2024
Badoni made headlines with his recent score in the Delhi Premier League 2024 match. He smashed 165 in 55 balls and guided South Delhi Superstarz to a 308-run total against North Delhi strikers.
This was the highest-ever total scored in T20 cricket. He stitched together a 286-run partnership for the second-wicket with Priyansh Arya, who himself scored 120 runs in just 50 balls.
Badoni is the leading scorer of the DPL 2024. He has amassed 515 runs in eight games at an average of 64.38 and a strike rate of 226.87. Even in the IPL, Badoni has played some swashbuckling innings at the back end of the innings for his franchise, Lucknow Super Giants.
Badoni revealed that he has tried to hone his skills against the spinners after the IPL, by smashing sixes against them. He feels that his best position is batting at number 3 or number 4 and this is what is helping his performances in the DPL 2024.
“After the IPL, I have practised a lot to try and hit spinners against sixes. I have also trained a lot against the newer ball. I like to bat at No.3 or 4. That is helping in DPL,” Badoni said.
