Current Indian opener, Sanju Samson showcased his batting brilliance as India claimed a dominant victory against T20I World Cup finalists’ South Africa by 61-runs, in Durban. He became the first Indian batter to score Indian batter to score consecutive T20I centuries.
India kept up their aggressive strategy in the first T20I against South Africa, even with limited batting depth. Sanju started the innings with an aggressive mindset, and scored 107 runs off 50 balls. His innings included 7 fours and 10 sixes. With his match-winning knock, Sanju became the first Indian and fourth batter, overall, to score two successive T20I hundreds. He also matched the record for most sixes by an Indian batter in a men’s T20I innings held by Rohit Sharma.
Apart from Sanju, no other batter managed to stay at the crease for long. Excellent bowling spells by spinners Varun Chakravarthy and Ravi Bishnoi, helped dismiss South Africa for a score of only 141 runs.
Sanju revealed to Jio Cinema, “If I think a lot I will get emotional. I waited for this moment for 10 years, I’m very happy, grateful and blessed. But I would like to keep my feet on the ground, be in the moment and enjoy.”
“The wicket does play a big role here, extra bounce and coming from India we do take time to understand the wicket. There’s a huge wind blowing from one end and their bowlers bowled very well, our bowlers too would like to copy from them.” he added

Sanju Samson, who played a magnificent knock in Durban against the home team South Africa, revealed the support and strength given by the team management during his negative phase. He confessed about the suggestion given by the coach and captain.
Opener Sanju Samson impressed the fans, yet again with his remarkable innings of 107 runs in 50 balls in Durban. He became he first Indian batter to score two back to back T20I centuries and fourth in the world.
In an interview, he revealed about the support and suggestion he got from the team management during his bad phase.
Sanju stated, “Communication during the time of failure is also very important, A player can get lost during his negative phase. After the Sri Lanka series, I received a lot of phone calls from Gautam bhai & Surya, telling me what to work on. They said ‘Your game against spin is looking dicey, so gather the spinners in Kerala and practice on the rough wickets.”
