A breaking news has been out regarding the final of the ICC World Test Championship 2023-25. The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced that the final will be held between 11 and June 15 in 2025 at Lord’s Cricket Stadium in London. All the three finals have been held in England so far.
The first final was held between India and New Zealand in 2021 in Southampton. New Zealand beat India to clinch the trophy. The final of the second edition was held at the Oval in London between India and Australia. Australia beat India in the final to clinch that trophy.
Currently, India are topping the points table and Australia are placed at the second position. It looks like both these teams will be playing in the final, yet again. However, it all depends on the 5-match Test series in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Australia at the end of the year.
MCC Chief talks about Lord’s hosting the ICC World Test Championship Final in 2025
Lord’s will hold the final for the first time. It was decided that the historic ground will host the final of the first edition. However, it was later shifted to Southampton. Guy Lavender, the Chief Executive and Secretary of the Marleybone Cricket Club (MCC) expressed how Test matches are special at the historic Lord’s Cricket Ground and it will be special to welcome the two top Test teams to battle it out in the final in the special cricket ground.
“Test match days at Lord’s are special and to welcome the two best men’s sides in the world at the time, to battle it out at the Home of Cricket, will be a cricketing experience not to be missed,” Guy Lavender, the Chief Executive and Secretary of the Marleybone Cricket Club (MCC), said.
It is obviously going to be yet another special affair. Now, it remains to be seen which two teams will make it to the finals to play at the Lord’s Cricket Ground.
