India have arrived at the Green Park stadium in Kanpur for the start of the second Test match of the two match Test series. India have won the first Test in Chennai comprehensively.
However, on Day 1 of the second Test match between the two sides, an unfortunate incident happened in the stadium in Kanpur. Bangladesh team’s super fan Tiger Roby was beaten by some of the Indian fans in the Green Park stadium.
The security officials and the police had to take care of the incident and Roby was taken to the nearest hospital for treatment. The reason what caused this kind of incident is not clear. However, if it has been done by the Indian fans, then it is definitely a shameful incident for the hosts.
How did the incident unfold?
News agency PTI share the video of police officials taking Roby to the nearest hospital:
“Bangladesh cricket team’s ‘super fan’ Tiger Roby was allegedly beaten up by some people during the India-Bangladesh second Test match being played at Kanpur’s Green Park stadium. He was taken to hospital by the police. More details are awaited.” PTI wrote in the caption.
Meanwhile, Indian captain Rohit Sharma won the toss in overcast conditions and decided to bowl first. Bangladesh managed to score 107/3 in 35 overs before bad light stopped play. Akash Deep has managed to scalp two wickets in the morning, while Ravichandran Ashwin also picked up a wicket.
There are strong forecast of rain on the first two days of the game. Nevertheless, India would be keen to win the game and take a 2-0 lead to strengthen their top position in the ICC World Test Championship points table. Post this series, India will play three-match Test series against New Zealand, followed by five Test matches against Australia, away from home.
