IND vs BAN: Jasprit Bumrah become the sixth Indian pacer to reach 400 international wickets

The second day of the first Test between India and Bangladesh at the Chepauk Stadium in Chennai ended on a pretty good note for India.

India managed to score 376 runs in their first innings. In reply, Bangladesh were dismissed for just 149 runs.

At the end of the day’s play, India have moved to 81-3 in their second innings and have got a lead of 308 runs. India’s premier fast bowler, Jasprit Bumrah was sensational with the ball.

Bumrah picked up four wickets in his spell of 11 overs, giving away 50 runs. With that, Bumrah also became the sixth Indian pacer who has picked up 400 wickets in international cricket.

Just before Tea time on Day 2, Bumrah scalped the wickets of Hasan Mahmud to reach the milestone.

Bumrah is currently the best bowler in international cricket across all formats. He is destructive across formats and has the ability bowl at any stage of the game.

He has got all the tricks in his armoury and can pick up wickets with seam, swing, pace, bounce, reverse swing, slower balls and deadly yorkers.

On top of that, he has an unorthodox bowling action and is very accurate which gives absolutely nothing to the batters to work with.

Bumrah was the Man Of The tournament in the ICC T20 World Cup in 2024. He was, later, rested on the tour of Zimbabwe and Sri Lanka to manage his workload. He has suffered from injuries, off late and hence BCCI are trying to preserve their unique asset.

India need to play for more Test matches at home and then travel to Australia for a 5-match Test series for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.

Hence, Bumrah needs to be looked after. Meanwhile, India are clearly in the driver’s seat in this Test match and will look to pile on the misery of the Bangladeshi players on Day 3.
