Indian Cricket Team is set to kick off their home season with a 2-match Test series against Bangladesh. The first Test match will start on September 19 in Chennai. Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja is back in the scheme of things. He announced his retirement from the T20I format and was ignored for the ODI series against Sri Lanka.
In Test cricket, he has been one of the most important players for India. courtesy of his all-round abilities, especially on wickets in India. He will be the focus yet again as India take on Bangladesh on a spin friendly Chennai wicket.
Meanwhile, Ravindra Jadeja is very close to achieving a rare record. In Test cricket, only 10 players have scored 3,000 runs and have picked up 300 wickets. The all-rounder needs six more wickets to reach the milestone of 300 wickets in Test cricket.
Currently, Jadeja stands at 3,036 runs and 294 wickets in 72 Tests. He will get an opportunity to reach this milestone in the first Test itself.

Ravindra Jadeja would want to start the home season on the right note. As per reports, the selectors are not considering Jadeja for the ODI format and instead are focusing on Washington Sundar and Axar Patel.
In that case, Jadeja has to perform really well in the Test matches. He is supposed to play all the five Test matches at home ( 2 against Bangladesh and 3 against New Zealand). It remains to be seen if Jadeja does find a place in the XI in the 5-match Test series in Australia for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
The first Test between India and Bangladesh starts on 19th September in Chennai.
