IND vs NZ: Michael Vaughan and Cricket Australia troll Team India for getting all-out on 46

After the first day of the first Test match between India and New Zealand in Bengaluru was washed out due to rain, India put on a disappointing batting performance on an overcast gloomy morning on Day 2.

Captain Rohit Sharma won the toss and elected to bat first. They were bundled out for just 46 runs on the board. Michael Vaughan and Cricket Australia took a sly dig at Team India after they were dismissed for this paltry score.

Vaughan tweeted,

“Look on the bright side Indian fans .. at least you have got past 36.

On the other hand, Cricket Australia tweeted:

Is ‘All Out 46’ the new ‘All Out 36’?.

These are actually a dig at India referring to getting all-out for 36 in the second innings of the first Test match in Adelaide in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in 2020-21. However, India registered a spirited comeback to win the series 2-1 and also breached Australia’s fortress at the Gabba.

Now, coming to this game, the Indian batting order faltered against the Kiwi pacers who utilised the conditions on offer and tormented the Indian batting lineup. Rohit Sharma scored just two runs. Virat Kohli, Sarfaraz Khan, KL Rahul, Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin returned for ducks. Only Rishabh Pant with 20 runs and Yashasvi Jaiswal with 13 runs could reach the double digit scores.

Meanwhile, Tim Southee picked up one wicket, Matt Henry picked up five wickets and William ORourke scalped four wickets. At the end of Day 2, New Zealand are currently at 180 runs for the loss of three wickets.

Devon Conway scored 91 runs. Rachin Ravindra is currently batting on 22 runs and Daryl Mitchell is batting on 14. They lead India’s score by 134 runs and India will need a spirited comeback from their bowlers on Day 3, to have a chance of getting back in this Test match.
