Indian opener turns first UNSOLD player of IPL mega-auction 2025

The IPL mega-auction has been giving chills down the spines of the cricket fans and the spectators, as many much-anticipated picks have earned some whopping amount of money.

The first two sets of marquee players sold included 12 players, which involved the use of INR 180+ crores, which included Rishabh Pant setting a new record for the highest ever bid in an IPL auction with INR 27 crores.

The Gujarat Titans, Delhi Capitals, and the Punjab Kings have been battling forward with their huge purses.

The highlight of the auction has been on these largely bid players, which include the two Indian options, Shreyas Iyer and Rishabh Pant, while other than these players, the talented bowlers Arshdeep, Yuzu Chahal, and some overseas players have also been quite enthusiastic.

Devdutt Padikkal has been the first unsold player in the mega-auction. After the two sets of marquee players, the next set is that of batters, and hence, Padikkal turns the first batter to be turned down a bid, maybe owing to his low form over the last two seasons.

Padikkal is currently playing the Border-Gavaskar Trophy with the Indian team, replacing an injured Shubman Gill, as he scored a 23-ball duck and a 71-ball 25-run in both his innings.

David Warner remains UNSOLD! A major moment of shock for IPL fans

IPL’s most successful overseas player and the most highly anticipated player in the shortest format of the game has been left out unsold. None other than David Warner, who undeniably has seen a major drop in form and has also retired from international cricket, has been left out by all franchises.

The decision seemed very unlikely for the Mumbai Indians, who could have gone further with the bid, especially with no one interested, as they need an experienced batter at the top and would not mind an overseas option.
