The third day of the third Test match of the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024/25 at the Gabba in Brisbane. The day has been frustrating, topsy-turvy with breaks every now and then due to rain and bad weather. Australia managed to score 445 runs in their first innings. However, India are in deep trouble having lost their four wickets for 51 runs.
Yashasvi Jaiswal was dismissed for four runs. Shubman Gill was dismissed for one run and Virat Kohli perished for three runs. Rishabh Pant was the last to be dismissed for nine runs. KL Rahul is batting on 33 runs and he has been joined by the captain, Rohit Sharma.
However, there was an incident that happened on the morning of Day 3 when India were bowling. The Indian captain was frustrated as the Australian batters were scoring easy runs and foiling all the plans of the Indian bowlers. The frustration got converted into anger which was directed at Akash Deep.
What did Rohit Sharma say to Akash Deep?
In the 114th over of the innings, Alex Carey was going all guns blazing and Akash Deep bowled a delivery way outside the off-stump to which even Carey could reach with his bat. Rishabh Pant dived to his left to gather the ball. It was signalled wide and the ball might have slipped from Deep’s hands. Pant’s heroic dive saved the delivery from going to the boundary.
Sharma was frustrated and angry. He was heard on stump mic saying “Abbe sar mein kuch hai? (Is there anything in your head?).” Deep was unhappy with the ball but did manage to dismiss Carey on the score of 70. He bowled 29.5 overs, toiled hard and scalped one wicket by giving away 95 runs. He bowled beautifully in the innings but was unlucky to not pick up more wickets as the ball constantly avoided the outside edge of the Aussie batters on a number of times.
Jasprit Bumrah was the peak of the bowlers for India by picking up six wickets. Mohammed Siraj scalped one wicket and Nitish Kumar Reddy picked up one wicket. India have their backs against the wall in this Test match with the series levelled at 1-1. However, the weather forecast is bad in the rest of the Test match.
