The Indian Wicketkeeper-batter, Jitesh Sharma was released by Punjab Kings (PBKS) ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction. Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) bought the 31-year-old in the auction for 11 crore INR. In a recent interview, Sharma said that he had no expectations from the auction and just wanted to get a franchise where he could play freely. Jitesh feels extremely happy to join RCB, where he can play freely.
“I wasn’t expecting anything from the auction. I was just hoping and praying to join a good team where I could play freely and express myself. I am incredibly grateful and thankful to God that I went to RCB—it feels like the perfect team for me,” said Jitesh Sharma to Times Of India.
Virat Kohli, the star Indian batter has always been one of the most popular cricketers in the world and has been synonymous with RCB right from the start of the IPL in 2008. He was yet again retained by the franchise for 21 crore INR and is also set to captain the team in IPL 2025.

Jitesh feels extremely happy to have the opportunity to play under Kohli in IPL 2025. He praised the enthusiasm and the energy level of Kohli. Jitesh feels that Kohli’s involvement in the game can help him perform really well for the franchise in IPL 2025.
“It will be great to play under Virat Kohli – I would love to play under him because he is so energetic and enthusiastic – it can push my limits – a person who is always involved in the game can inspire me to push my game further,” he added.
Dinesh Karthik retired from the IPL and international cricket after the end of IPL 2024. He has served as the finisher for RCB in the last few seasons and also featured as the wicketkeeper. Jitesh Sharma can take on that role given that he has played as the finisher for Punjab Kings and also the Indian T20I team. Known for his aggressive lower-order batting, he has a knack for quick scoring with a high strike rate. His wicket-keeping skills add value, making him a versatile player.
