Jasprit Bumrah faced a serious back spasm in the final match of the BGT, which ruled him out of the match and also made his presence doubtful in the upcoming fixtures for India. Though Bumrah has been added to the Indian side for the Champions Trophy, his availability is still to undergo several clearances. The star Indian pacer’s unavailability would create an immense stir in the Indian dressing room.

The star pacer is reported to be visiting a New Zealand orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Rowan Schouten, who will assess Bumrah’s back injury, and under his consultation, Bumrah’s reports would be filed, which will act as a feedback update on his availability.

Apart from the Champions Trophy, Bumrah has also been picked up for the final ODI encounter between India and the visiting side, England, against whom the Indian side is currently playing their T20I series.

BCCI sources have revealed to TOI, “The BCCI medical team is in touch with Schouten in New Zealand. The board had also planned a visit for Bumrah to New Zealand. But that hasn’t happened yet. The selectors know it will be a miracle if Bumrah turns up 100% fit in the given timeline.
Interestingly, Bumrah was operated on by the Kiwi doctor after he missed another marquee ICC event, the 2022 T20 World Cup.

The leading right-arm pacer in the world currently, Jasprit Bumrah is the most feared brute pace force in the world, and his presence is highly desired across all formats of the game. Likely the Ajit Agarkar-led selection committee picked Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami in the side, while Arshdeep Singh was the new inclusion to the ODI squad; the star Indian pacer Mohammad Siraj has been dropped from the India squad.

Likely India is to consider options like Prasidh Krishna, Harshit Rana, or even the all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy for the upcoming Champions Trophy as a replacement for the legendary Indian pacer, though substituting Bumrah would be of no use to them.
