Sri Lankan batting sensation and star all-rounder, Kamindu Mendis, scored his 5th hundred in Test cricket as, once again, he has turned heads with his amazing batting antics.
Mendis scored his fifth ton in the longest format of the game, while he reached the landmark with 147 balls, nudging a single off Glenn Phillips.
With Kamindu Mendis’ 182*, he took command of the Sri Lankan innings after the fall of centurion Chandimal and veteran Mathews.
Alongside Kusal Mendis, he went on to take the Sri Lankan to a humongous 600+ first innings total, with a notable hundred from Kusal Mendis as well.
The Lankan fans as well as several cricket fans praised the batter for his stunning form and his prominence in the format.

Kamindu Mendis scored his fifth century against New Zealand at Galle on the 27th of September, while Mendis forced himself up the order in the batting order, as he was placed in the 5th spot this time.
This was his second hundred of the series and the third 50+ score, following the third inning of the series.
With this ton, Kamindu went past Joe Root for having most Test hundreds in the calendar year of 2024, as the former now has 5 hundreds while Root has only 4.
England’s Ollie Pope, India’s Shubman Gill, and New Zealand’s Kane Williamson follow him with three hundred each.
He equaled the great Don Bradmon to reach the milestone of 1000 test runs in the 13 innings’, as he scored an 182 in the first innings of the 2nd Galle Test. He has now set the new Asian record as he became the fastest to 1000 test runs among Asian cricketers, with the next best in the list being Pakistan’s Fawad Alam, who achieved the same feat in just 22 innings.
Kamindu’s amazing average of 91.27 is the second highest in Test history, only behind the great Donald Bradman, who had an average of 99.94.
