Former Indian cricketer, Vinod Kambli has been recently in the limelight for his degrading health. The video of the recent interaction with his childhood friend, Sachin Tendulkar, in an event to honour their coach Late Ramakant Archrekar in Mumbai, went viral on social media. When the video went viral, everyone was suprised to see how old and ill Kambli looked beside Tendulkar.
Kambli also sang a song for his late coach and everyone could hear the low voice in which Kambli sang the song. It was like he was singing in a drunk state. Former first-class umpire Marcus Couto, who is close to Kambli, dismissed the reports suggesting Kambli was inebriated at the event. He stated that Kambli has severe, multiple health issues and clarified that Kambli had not consumed any alcohol for the past year.
Vinod Kambli has been struggling with his health
He said: โHe has severe, multiple health issues. He wasn’t drunk or something. He hasn’t touched a drop of alcohol for the past one year.โ Couto remarked that there was no point in Kambli going for rehab again, noting that Kambli had already been to rehab 14 times, and they had taken him to a rehab in Vasai on three occasions. โThere’s no point in him going for rehabโKambli has already gone to rehab 14 times! Thrice we took him to a rehab in Vasai,โ he added.
Former India captain and also the 1983 World Cup winning captain, Kapil Dev, has said that he wants to help Kambli get rid of alcohol addiction with financial help but he needs to take the first step to go to rehab to get rid of the alcohol addiction fully.
โKapil (Dev) has told me clearly that if he wants to go to rehab, then we are willing to help him financially,โ said former India seamer Balwinder Singh Sandhu, as quoted by HT.
