In a latest turn of events, former fast bowler of India, Zaheer Khan, has been appointed as the mentor of Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) ahead of the IPL 2025. The franchise has announced the decision through their social media handles, on August 28.
Gautam Gambhir left the post to become the mentor of Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) ahead of the IPL 2024. LSG did not have any mentor, last season.
Gambhir handled a team that qualified for the playoff in two consecutive seasons. He went back to KKR and guided them to an IPL title. Meanwhile, Justin Langer became the head coach of Lucknow Super Giants.
Khan is likely help the franchise to a greater extent as even Morne Morkel has left the post of bowling coach of LSG. He is the new bowling coach of Indian Cricket Team after Gautam Gambhir was announced as the head coach and Abhishek Nayar was appointed as the assistant coach.

Zaheer Khan was one of the most successful bowlers for the Indian Cricket Team. He was sensational as a left-arm fast bowler and since his retirement, India has struggled to find a left-arm pacer who has replaced him.
Khan played 92 Test matches for India, picking 311 wickets at an average of 32.9. He played 200 ODIs for India, taking 282 wickets at an economy rate of 4.93. Khan was also part of 17 T20Is and picked up 17 wickets at an economy rate of 7.63. In the IPL, he played 100 matches with 102 wickets to his name at an economy rate of 7.58.
He was sensational for India in the ICC ODI World Cup in 2011. Zaheer scalped 21 wickets in the tournament and was one of the main reasons why India went on to win the World Cup after 28 years. Khan has also served in the coaching team of Mumbai Indians and has helped the younger bowlers flourish.
