Mike Hesson has heaped praise on the former Indian captain Virat Kohli and has stated that the batting stalwart currently wants to win games for the Indian Cricket Team rather than focus on his personal milestones.
He has warned other opposition teams especially Australia that if Kohli focusses on getting his team a win then it is a dangerous sign for all the oppositions.
Hesson also talked about the importance of not letting the game drift in the overs between 30 and 60 in Australia and said that if Kohli keeps batting in this phase, then he will find the gaps and keep the Indian scoreboard ticking.
If Australia does attack him, the former Indian captain can counter attack and score runs.
Speaking in an interaction with Jio Cinema’s here’s what said about Kohli.
“ I think Virat Kohli is at that stage in his career where he just wants to try and win games for India. And I think that’s a dangerous stage for other sides, because if he’s doing that rather than focusing on numbers, the big scores will come naturally. “
“The ability to hold a tempo in Australia is so important—being able to counterattack and knowing the right moments to do so. As mentioned, from 30 to 60 overs is a key phase. If Kohli is batting at that point, he won’t let the game drift. It’s about finding gaps, hitting gaps, getting ones and twos, and then, if they try and attack him, then he can counterattack,” Hesson told Jio Cinema.
India will travel to Australia for a five-match Test series in the Border-Gavaskar trophy. Kohli will be an integral part of the squad and his form will be directly proportional to India’s win. India have won the last two Test series in Australia and it is going to be another interesting contest Down Under.
