Mayank Yadav, the young Indian fast bowler, made headlines with his blistering pace and his accuracy during his limited matches in the IPL 2025. He was consistently bowling in excess of 150 kmph with impeccable line and length, but his performances were cut short by an injury which ruled him out of the rest of the tournament. Now, after recovering from the side strain, he finally made his debut forTeam India in the first T20I against Bangladesh in Gwalior.
Mayank had figures of 4-1-21-1 during the first T20I and India won the match by seven wickets. Yadav was not able to click 150 kmph in the game due to the caution that he was given after suffering injury. Bangladesh captain, Najmul Hossain Shanto, was asked about the threat of Yadav ahead of the second T20I in New Delhi.
Najmul Hossain Shanto talks about the Bangladeshi batters facing Mayank Yadav
The captain said that Bangladesh batters face similar fast bowlers in the nets and are not too worried about Yadav. However, he called Yadav a very good bowler.
“We have some similar fast bowlers in the nets. I don’t think we were too worried about (Mayank Yadav). But he is a good bowler,” Najmul Hossain Shanto said after India won the first T20I by 7 wickets to take a 1-0 lead in the three-match series.
Bowling fast with accuracy is a rare skill due to the complex interplay of physical and mental attributes required. Speed in bowling primarily relies on physical prowess—strength, agility, and technique. However, accuracy introduces a layer of precision that needs exceptional coordination, focus, and control. The margin for error diminishes as speed increases. A slight deviation in release or direction can lead to significant misses.
Mayank bowled a maiden over in the very first over that he bowled in international cricket and later also went on to pick up Mahmudullah in the very next over. He is definitely a great prospect for Team India.
