Naman Ojha reveals Virat Kohli's huge blunder that costed RCB the IPL 2016 final

Former Indian wicketkeeper-batter, Naman Ojha, in a recent interview with Sportsyaari, talked about the big mistake of captain Virat Kohli that cost RCB the final of IPL 2016. Ojha said that Kohli did not play a specialist wicketkeeper in that game and instead opted for KL Rahul as the wicketkeeper, who was a part time wicketkeeper at that phase of his career.

Ojha recalled the crucial catches that were dropped by Rahul and the byes that he conceded. Those chances in the decisive moments and the extra runs costed RCB the final. He feels that RCB did not capitalise on the chances which led to SRH getting the upper hand in the game.

The IPL 2016 final was a sensational and exciting match where the Sunrisers Hyderabad clashed with the Royal Challengers Bangalore.

Held at the iconic Chinnaswamy Stadium, the match was a thrilling display of cricket, tension and drama. Sunrisers, led by the Australian David Warner, faced off against Virat Kohli’s explosive RCB.

The game went down to the wire and Hyderabad finally emerged triumphant in the game. SRH were set to get a total of 190-195. However, Ben Cutting’s innings of 39 runs off 15 balls became the difference in the game and SRH ended with a score of 208 runs. Those late runs from Cutting was the difference between RCB’s win and loss.

Although Naman Ojha’s international career was limited, featuring just one Test match, one ODI, and two T20Is between 2010 and 2015, Ojha’s impact was more profoundly felt in domestic cricket.

In domestic circuits, Ojha was a constant presence, especially noted for his tenure with Madhya Pradesh where he amassed over 9,000 runs and took 417 catches. He displayed his dual capabilities as a reliable batsman and a safe pair of hands behind the stumps.
