Nitish Kumar Reddy ruled out of the remainder of T20I series vs England; Shivam Dube announced as replacement

Batting all-rounder Shivam Dube, who was a part of India’s World Cup-winning T20I side in 2024, has been recalled to the T20 squad for the series against England. Meanwhile, emerging all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy has suffered an injury and will miss out on the following matches of the series.

Shivam Dube will join the Indian squad for the T20 series against England from the third T20I, which will be held in Rajkot. His participation in the earlier match is delayed due to his Ranji Trophy commitments, where he is fulfilling his duties for Mumbai. Dube’s arrival from the third match onwards will bolster India’s lineup for the remainder of the series.

He played his last T20I against Sri Lanka at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in July 2024, following India’s T20 World Cup win. In that series, Shivam Dube only managed to play a single match, scoring 13 runs. Later on, Shivam Dube made his comeback to cricket in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, where he impressed with 151 runs in five matches with a strike rate of 179.76. Additionally, he contributed with the ball, taking 3 wickets at an economy of 9.31.

According to reports, promising young player Nitish Kumar Reddy has been ruled out of the T20I series against England due to a side strain. He has been advised to take four weeks of rest for recovery.

The 31-year-old all-rounder Shivam Dube is known for his powerful batting and effective bowling.
