Pakistan Cricket Team have announced their 12-man squad for the second Test match against Bangladesh at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. Star left-arm pacer, Shaheen Shah Afridi has been dropped from the squad.
He was released from the squad after the end of the first Test match and is reportedly rested for this Test match. Mir Hamza and Abrar Ahmed earned their place back in the squad.
Meanwhile, fans have come up with mixed reactions on social media with regards to Shaheen Shah Afridi’s exclusion from the upcoming Test match. Here’s a look at some of those:
Pakistan suffer a 10-wicket defeat against Bangladesh in the opening Test match
Shaheen Shah Afridi bowled 32 overs in the first Test match and picked up 2 wickets by giving away 88 runs. He had to toil hard to pick up those two wickets. His form has been down since the last year and has struggled to bring up his best performances.
Shaheen has faced severe criticism for his unusual behavior, of late. Earlier, Gary Kirsten had submitted a report to the PCB stating that Afridi had behaved badly with the coaching staffs.
Pakistan suffered a humiliating defeat against Bangladesh in the opening Test match of the series. It was their first ever defeat against Bangladesh in Test cricket’s history. The Bangla Tigers registered a 1-wicket victory against Pakistan in the opening match.
Batting first, Pakistan scored 448 runs for the loss of 6 wickets and declared their innings. Saim Ayub scored 56 runs, while Mohammad Rizwan played a sensational knock of 171 runs. Saud Shakeel was also brilliant with his 141-run knock.
In response, Bangladesh scored 565 runs in their first innings. Mushfiqur Rahim (191) and Shadman Islam(93) played valuable knocks with the bat. Mominul Haque scored a half-century, while Litton Das scored 56 runs.
Pakistan’s batting order collapse like a pack of cards in their second innings on the fifth day. They were bowled out for 146 runs and gave only 30 runs for the Bangladesh batters to chase down in the final innings.
Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Shakib-al-Hasan were the destroyers in chief with 4 and 3 wickets, respectively. Bangladesh batters scored the 30 runs without losing any wicket and completed a comprehensive victory against Pakistan. As a result, Pakistan faced severe criticism after their humiliating loss in the opening Test match.
