Legendary Pakistani left-arm orthodox spinner Noman Ali has made the headlines once again with his stunning performance on home soil.
The Pakistan spin duo of Noman Ali and Sajid Khan wreaked havoc at Multan and Rawalpindi during the three-match test series against England last year in 2024. When the visiting English side scored a mammoth 800+ run total, the Pakistan team lost the match by an innings; this was their consecutive series loss at home, which also included a humiliating defeat against Bangladesh as well.
This was when Noman Ali and Sajid Khan were included in the playing 11 for the rest of the tour, as they shared 39 of the 40 wickets picked by Pakistan over the next two test matches. Despite their strong performance, Sajid was not picked for the squad to South Africa, while Noman Ali, despite being picked, didn’t feature in a single match.
Pakistan included the likes of their two fine spinners again in the home series against West Indies. Alongside Noman Ali and Sajid Khan, the Pakistani leg-spinner Abrar Ahmed has also been included in the side.
Noman Ali, in his second spell alongside Abrar Ahmed, picked 3 consecutive wickets. It is a hat trick that was historically created on the Multan soil. Likely, he dismissed the Windies batters, including Justin Greaves, Tevin Imlach, and Kevin Sinclair.
Noman Ali picked a 5-fer at Multan
The star spinner picked the 5 wickets, which included the middle-order as well as the lower-order batters; however, all hail the lower order of Windy’s side, as Kemar Roach and Gudakesh Motie rescued the Windies from a Pakistan-dominated collapse.
From 38/7, the West Indies lower order collapsed in front of the spin-heavy attack of Pakistan, especially on the spinning track of Multan. However, star Windies spinner Gudakesh Motie rescued the visitors alongside the most veteran player in the side, Kemar Roach.
At the time of writing, the West Indies are 118/9, with Motie and No. 11 Jomel Warrican adding some vital runs on the scoreboard.
