In a recent CEAT Cricket Award , former Indian cricketer and head coach, Rahul Dravid, talked about his own biopic. Dravid humorously mentioned that if the financial offer for his biopic were substantial, he would consider playing himself in the film.
Dravid said: “If the money is good enough, I’ll play it myself,”
Dravid expressed his excitement about traveling across India and witnessing the immense passion and joy of cricket fans. Although he had never played in a World Cup as a player in India, he found it remarkable to experience the enthusiasm for the game as a coach. He described the experience as phenomenal and incredible.
Dravid also reflected on his team’s performance, acknowledging that they ran an excellent campaign. He admitted that they fell short in the final against Australia in the ODI World Cup 2023, who played better on that particular day. Dravid congratulated Australia, recognizing that such outcomes are part of the nature of sports.
“To travel all over this country and to be able to experience that joy and passion of the fans. I’ve never been a part of a World Cup as a player in India, but just the experience as a coach to go from city to city and just walk and see what this game meant to the people of this country was phenomenal. It was incredible,” Dravid said at Ceat Cricket Awards.
“I thought we ran a phenomenal campaign. We came unstuck in the final and Australia played better cricket than us on the day. They were a better team and congratulations (to them). That can happen in sport and that’s what sport is about,” Dravid added.
India won the ICC T20 World Cup in 2024 under the tutelage of Rahul Dravid
Dravid and Rohit Sharma led India to the win in the ICC T20 World Cup in 2024 in West Indies and USA. In 2007, Dravid was the captain of India in the ODI World Cup and his team was knocked out from the group stage.
In the same place, after 17 years, Dravid made his redemption as the head coach, as he lifted the T20 World Cup trophy. After the T20 World Cup, Dravid’s contract with the BCCI ended and he was replaced by Gautam Gambhir as the head coach.
In 2016, MS Dhoni’s biopic was made and it was an instant hit. Few years later, Sachin Tendulkar’s biopic was made. Now, there has been an announcement that Yuvraj Singh’s biopic is also going to be made soon.
