Pant survived the horrifying accident

Indian star wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant opens up on his horrifying experience during the car accident that occurred in December 2022.

Pant was driving his Mercedes SUV from Delhi to his hometown Roorkee on New Year’s Eve, and he seemed to have dozed off while driving alone, as the car toppled after hitting the road divider. The car was burned down to ashes as Pant jokingly remarked he took an SUV, but later it appeared to be a Cedan.

Pant was rescued by local passerby riders and rushed to a hospital in Roorkee before he was shifted to Max Hospital in Dehradun for further treatment and later airlifted to London for surgery.

Pant faced several injuries on his forehead, injuries to his knee as well as his back. But what seemed unlikely was his dislocated right leg, which had to be put in place.

“My right leg was severely dislocated, and it was put back in its place. I asked someone for help to bring the leg back to its place. That time I fixed it back into the slot.”

“If there was nerve damage or any more serious injuries, we might have had to amputate my leg. That’s when I got very scared.”

Rishabh Pant will be seen playing in the red ball series against Bangladesh as he makes a return to the India team after his decent performance in the first round of the Duleep Trophy. Pant scored a quickfire 50 and took some sensational grabs to find a place back into the Indian side.

Pant was in superb form before his injury and was in the best phases of his career since he ruled all formats for India. However, reports have claimed that following the hectic red ball schedule for India and Pant being an eminent asset for them in the matches, he is to be rested from the T20I series.

Following Pant’s rest from T20Is, he might be replaced by the likes of in-form Ishan Kishan, who has shown recent promising form and might be backed as a wicketkeeper to the India team.
