Rishabh Pant, the young wicketkeeper batter for India is just a freak for India in Test cricket. He has dominated the red ball cricket with his approach and audacious batting. Pant takes the attack to the opposition bowlers with his aggressive intent and is a treat to watch in red ball cricket. The young turk came up with yet another sensational innings under pressure in the second innings of the first Test match of the series against New Zealand in Bengaluru. He hit some sensational shots. However, one of the shots that he hit Southee with the second new ball was a sight to watch.
On the third ball of the 87th over, Southee bowled a full ball to Pant and he went down on one knee. slog swept it for a 107 m six. He was on 90s at that moment but the audaciousness of the shot made Glenn Phillips drop his jaws. KL Rahul at the non striker end was stunned as the ball travelled outside the MA Chinnaswamy Stadium.

However, the innings ended on an unlucky note for Pant as he got out for 99. He dragged on the ball to the stumps as the second new ball misbehaved off the pitch. However, Pant played yet another sensational innings under pressure to give India some glimmer of hope. India were trailing by 356 runs at the end of the first innings of New Zealand. However, when Pant got out, India had a lead of 77 runs.
Now, it remains to be seen if the rest of the batters can take India to a respectable total to fight in the fourth innings with the ball. The Test match is set up beautifully with one and half days of the match still left.
