Indian cricket captain Rohit Sharma, often celebrated for his explosive batting and calm demeanor, is also humorously known for being forgetful at times. From misplacing his belongings to amusingly forgetting details during press conferences, his quirky memory lapses have made him relatable and endearing to fans.
Rohit’s fellow cricketer Virat Kohli also revealed the forgetfulness of the Indian captain in an interview in 2017. He forgot his iPad, wallet, phone, and even passport.
In a recent podcast, Pakistani cricketer Imam-ul-Haq shared an amusing anecdote about Indian skipper Rohit Sharma. He revealed that during a tournament, Pakistan’s star batter Babar Azam helped Rohit Sharma locate his phone not once, but twice. This lighthearted incident highlights the mutual respect and friendly bond shared by players across cricketing nations.
He stated,
“Oh my God, you haven’t met him, he’s a personality of a different level. He completely forgets where he kept his gloves and bats. Babar tells me about an incident — do you remember there was a captain’s meeting and these guys went in a plane? — he had bought a new iPhone and AirPods. He said we were talking and he first left his iPhone here, then in the plane and then his AirPods every two minutes. Then, he was cursing himself, what am I doing, I keep forgetting things. [Babar] said twice he took his phone saying, ‘Rohit bhai, ye apna phone rakhlein’. He even had to call his manager that he left his AirPods. He’s very forgetful.”
“If he hasn’t scored runs, my feeling is that he himself will take the call”- Sunil Gavaskar on Rohit Sharma’s future
Former Indian cricketer Sunil Gavaskar made a bold prediction regarding Rohit Sharma’s future after the third Test match between India and Australia at Gabba. The Border-Gavaskar Trophy is leveled at 1-1, with India aiming to win the remaining 2 matches and make their place in the World Test Championship final.
The former cricketer opened up about the Indian captain’s struggle with the bat in recent times, expressing concern over his inconsistent performances and highlighting the need for him to regain his form ahead of crucial matches.
He stated, “I think Rohit obviously will get the opportunity to play in the next couple of matches, that’s for sure. But maybe at the end of it, if he hasn’t scored runs, my feeling is that he himself will take the call. He’s a very conscientious cricketer, he will not want to be a burden on the team. He’s a cricketer who cares very deeply for Indian cricket. So if he doesn’t score runs in the next couple of games, I think he himself will step down.”
