Team India are playing with intent in the second Test match against Bangladesh in Kanpur. The Day 2 and Day 3 of the Test match were washed out with rain and 35 overs were just bowled on the first day. Hence, the match was supposed to head towards a draw.
However, the Indian batters led by Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal took on the charge to score quick runs and give India a chance of winning this game and not losing out on the WTC points.
Indian bowlers picked up all the wickets of Bangladesh on the morning of Day 4 for just 233 runs in the first innings. Then Sharma and Jaiswal came out all guns blazing with the captain hitting a six off the very first ball.
Sharma played a stellar knock of 23 runs off 11 balls. On the other hand, Jaiswal put on a show, with 72 runs off 51 balls with 12 fours and 2 sixes during his innings. Shubman Gill, meanwhile, smashed 39 runs off 36 balls.
Virat Kohli came out to bat at number 5
However, when Yashasvi Jaiswal got out, it was expected that Virat Kohli will come out to bat at his usual position at number 4 and the crowd was also chanting ‘Kohli, Kohli’ in anticipation of seeing the superstar bat.
However, the captain and the coach, sent Rishabh Pant at number five to keep the left and right batting combination on the crease. Kohli is having a dismal form in Test cricket, of late, and is in need of runs to come back in form in the longest format of the game.
Fans have started reacting on social media when Pant was sent ahead of Kohli at number four when everyone present in the stands were waiting in anticipation to watch the former Indian captain to come out to bat.
