Rishabh Pant

Indian star Rishabh Pant was seen to be taken off the field after he wobbled on the knee he had the surgery on. Dhruv Jurel the other keeper was brought into the side for the role.

Day 2 of the first India vs. New Zealand home test at the Chinnaswamy Stadium did not go much in favour of the hosts, as they faced sheer trouble batting first. Opting to bat first after winning the toss, India was bundled for a minor 46 runs.

The New Zealand pace duo of Matt Henry and Will O’Rourke shared nine wickets between them as they were unplayable on several occasions against the Indian lineup.

While New Zealand batters came in to bat, the track seemed very unconvincing due to Conway scoring runs easily on the same pitch. However, things went to be worse for the visitors, as Rishabh Pant injured himself in the last ball of the 37th ball.

This incident occurred when Pant missed a stumping opportunity during the over in which Jadeja’s ball beat the outside edge of Devon Conway’s bat. Pant failed to collect the ball, and it went on to hit his knee.

The knee was damaged prior to which he had undergone surgery; hence, as a precautionary measure, Pant was taken off the field, and hence he is monitored on the field in Bangalore.

Rohit also informed me in the post-match interview that he has some swelling on the knee and hence taking him off to avoid risk. He also hopes Pant is fit and back by the next game.

The Delhi Capitals have undergone some of the biggest of changes in the IPL. They have replaced Sourav Ganguly as the Director of Cricket for the Delhi Capitals, and Venugopal Rao will be seen in the role. While also Hemang Badani joins the franchise as their new head coach in the Delhi Capitals.

The Delhi Capitals have made some indications to keep up the trio of Indian World Cup winners in the IPL 2025. They are most likely to retain players like Rishabh Pant, Axar Patel, and Kuldeep Yadav for money worth INR 18 crore, 14 crore, and 11 crore, respectively.

However, it has been confirmed that Rishabh Pant will no longer be seen in the role of the Delhi Capitals skipper, as the likes of Axar Patel might be assumed to take up the new role. Also, the overseas players Jake Fraser-McGurk and Tristian Stubbs might be the players to be retained with the RTM card.
