Australian star bowler Josh Hazlewood, who has been crucial for the Australian cricket team across all formats, carried his consistency in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy against India. Known for his accuracy, bounce, and ability to deliver under pressure, Hazlewood remains a key figure in Australia’s bowling attack. As per reports, the fast bowler is set to miss the rest of the Test match series after sustaining a right calf strain.
During the fourth day of the third Test match at Gabba, Josh Hazlewood sustained the injury during the warm-ups earlier in the day. Despite this, he attempted to bowl, delivering a single over with cautious, off-pace deliveries. Shortly after, he was seen consulting with skipper Pat Cummins and physio Nick Jones before leaving the field and heading to the hospital.
An executive from Cricket Australia confirmed, “Josh Hazlewood has sustained a right sided calf strain which will prevent him from playing any further part in Test match against India in Brisbane. He sustained the injury during the warm-up this morning and after bowling one over was unable to continue. He is likely to miss the remainder of the Test series. A squad replacement will be made in due course.”
The Australian star bowler has taken crucial wickets for the Australian side in the two matches he has played so far, proving his value to the team’s bowling attack. His ability to break partnerships and deliver under pressure has been instrumental in putting Australia in strong positions during the games.
Scott Boland is likely to replace injured Josh Hazlewood
Australian seamer Scott Boland, who played the pink-ball Test in Adelaide, is set to replace the injured pacer Josh Hazlewood in the Australian XI for the two upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy matches. The bowler took 5 crucial wickets (Shubman Gill, Rohit Sharma, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Virat Kohli, and Mohammed Siraj) against India.
The talented pacer has a good track record in Melbourne, where the boxing day Test match is going to be played. The last Test match he played at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, he grabbed six wickets in 21 balls.
