The Border-Gavaskar series will be held later this year and the hype is already building up. In a recent interview, Steve Smith, talked about the star batter from the opposite team, Virat Kohli. Smith stated that he has a very good relationship with Kohli and they share messages, frequently. The Australian star called Kohli a great batter and is looking forward to coming up against him later this year.
Speaking about Virat, Smith said on Star Sports,
“We get on quite well, share messages every now and again. Look, he is a great guy and obviously a wonderful player. So, it is going to be nice to come up against him again this summer.”
Smith praised Kohli’s competitive attitude and his ability to take on the challenge. He lauded Kohli’s ability to put the pressure on the opposition team. Smith said that Kohli carries an Australian mindset.
“The way he gets into it at all the way, gets into the challenge, and tries to get on top of the opposition. He is probably most Australian of the Indian players, I would say,” he added.

Smith also talked about the impending competition with Kohli and the rivalry. He stated that he has no such thing and rather he focuses on getting Australia past the winning mark.

“There is no real, I need to beat him or anything like that. It is just about going out and playing and trying to score as many runs as I can and helping Australia have success. That is what it’s all about,” he added.
Kohli is, meanwhile, slated to make his comeback in the Test team for the first Test against Bangladesh, starting from September 19. He missed the last test series against England at home for the birth of his son. The former Indian captain will be looking to be consistent in the red ball format.
