Indian legendary spinner, Anil Kumble called out Virat Kohli’s dismissal as ‘suicidal’ during the third Test match between India and New Zealand. In a surprising turn of events on Day 1 of the final Test at Wankhede Stadium, the Indian cricket team experienced a sudden collapse, leaving fans and cricket experts shocked.

During the first day, India were bating comfortably and cruising towards a good score, with a loss of only one wicket. Suddenly, three wickets fell in the final moments of the day. These included opener Yashasvi Jaiswal, night watchman Mohammed Siraj, and Virat Kohli.

Former Indian captain, Virat Kohli was looking solid on the crease, as he flicked a ball towards the boundary to start his innings. Kohli, who seemed like scoring a big one, was unexpectedly run out by a precise throw from Matt Henry. This resulted in the loss of three wickets in just a span of around 15 minutes.

Virat Kohli was criticized as the timing of this dismissal was heartbreaking. His effort to take a quick single went disastrously wrong, leaving fans and teammates in shocked silence as he fell short of the crease.

Anil Kumble stated, “Nobody expected the run-out.This was certainly not something that you expect of Virat Kohli getting run out in the last over or last few minutes of a day’s play. And it was something that he just hit the shot and then went straight for a run, which is suicidal”.

Kumble expressed his thoughts on the unfortunate dismissals during critical moments, stressing that such mistakes should not become a trend for a team of India’s quality. The former Indian head coach noted that no one anticipated Kohli, renowned for his keen cricketing insight, would be run out in that manner. He criticized Kohli for failing to demonstrate the maturity required by the situation against New Zealand.

“You can’t have this repeatedly happening in every game, so it’s more than a concern at the moment. You had an opportunity to get inside with just one wicket down of Rohit Sharma. And then yes, Jaiswal gets out, and the night watchman comes in and gets out first ball, then this”. He added
