Indian legend slams Rohit Sharma’s captaincy, calls him defensive and negative

Former Indian cricketer and current cricket expert Sunil Gavaskar slams Indian captain Rohit Sharma for being a defensive and negative captain.

During the second test between India and New Zealand, Rohit took a cautious approach in the opening session, with deep fielders set for Ravichandran Ashwin, Washington Sundar, and Ravindra Jadeja.

“If you had fielders like that ( long-on and long-off ) for the spinners before a lofted shot had been played, the captain would’ve been called a defensive captain. He’s a defensive captain, he’s a negative captain.” said the former Indian captain.
