The first Test between India and Bangladesh is currently running at the Chepauk Stadium in Chennai. India’s star batter Virat Kohli did not score much with the bat in the first innings as he got out for just 6 runs while trying to play an extravagant cover drive to Hasan Mahmud only to edge him back to Litton Das.
Meanwhile, Bangladesh’s veteran, Mushfiqur Rahim, also returned cheaply as he edged one to KL Rahul in the second slip off the bowling of Jasprit Bumrah.
Mushfiqur Rahim has had some controversial history with the Indian Cricket Team. He celebrated prematurely in the contest between India and Bangladesh in the 2016 T20 World Cup in Bengaluru when 2 runs were needed off 3 ball to win. However, Bangladesh went on to lose the game from there.
Here is the conversation between Ravi Shastri and Tamim Iqbal regarding the rivalry between Mushfiqur Rahim and Virat Kohli

Tamim Iqbal, who was in the commentary box, when Rahim came in to bat in the first innings, claimed that there should be some verbal altercation between Rahim and Kohli as they have a history between them. This is when, Ravi Shastri chipped in.
Tamim Iqbal: Mushfiqur Rahim is batting, Virat Kohli is in the slips. Watch out now. Keep an eye on them. They have quite the history.
Ravi Shastri: What history?
Tamim Iqbal: Oh, you know, Ravi. You know what history I am talking about.
That is when Harsha Bhogle cheekily chipped in: “Ah, well left Tamim. I guess Mushfiqur has a bit of history with everyone.”
There haven’t been many instances of verbal altercation between Kohli and Rahim. However, Kohli is always a feisty character and always takes a go at the opposition when on the field. He is highly competitive and never stops himself from giving it back. Rahim, during an interview with Star Sports, ahead of the match between India and Bangladesh in the ODI World Cup 2023 stated that Kohli tries to always sledge his teammates.
“Some batters in the world love sledging and get pumped up by that. So I never sledge him because he gets pumped up by that. I always tell my bowlers to get rid of him as early as possible,“ Rahim told Star Sports.
