Basit Ali vs PCB

Ex-Pakistani international cricketer Basit Ali has, once again, slammed the PCB for their disgusting home pitches based on tracks from the Chennai Test. He has praised the recent track of the MA Chidambaram Stadium, which held the opening Test against Bangladesh for India.

Pakistan, only a month ago, faced a humiliating series sweep against the same opponent in Bangladesh, as the latter created history with this historic feat. However, for India and their skipper Rohit, the same opponent seemed like an underdog as they had a thumping 280-run victory.

“In our nation, they say there is no value of pitch. They are illiterate people. The ones who have played cricket with pride are there on the board (PCB). This is why I get angry. What are you teaching kids? 50 percent of the issue is solved if you read the pitch well; ask Sunil Gavaskar and Javed Miandad. But they don’t understand.” said Ali to NDTV Sports.

Ali recognized how the pitch supported the class of both pacers as well as spinners equally and was also a similarly convenient track to bat on. Indian legendary bowler Jasprit Bumrah, the ace pacer, picked 5 wickets in the game and a total of 9 wickets for the pacers, alongside the remaining 11 picked between Jadeja’s 5-fer and Ashwin’s 6-fer in the match.

Also, the static batting performances from Gill, Pant, Ashwin, Jadeja, and Bangladesh skipper Shanto proved the pitch to be helpful for batters as well.

“Indian bowling is on level with Wasim Akram, Shoaib Akhtar, and Waqar Younis“- Basit Ali

Even the Pakistani cricketer Basit went on to praise the Indian bowlers as he drew a comparison of the players with the former legendary Pakistani trio of Wasim Akram, Waqar Younis, and Shoaib Akhtar.

“The Indian bowling unit is so impactful that they are on the level with pacers Wasim Akram, Shoaib Akhtar, and Waqar Younis. Right now, Mohammed Shami is not playing,” said Basit Ali while making an audacious claim, especially being a Pakistani.

The next Test will begin on the 27th of this month. The Indian team has hinted towards resting their great, Jasprit Bumrah, in order to feature Yash Dayal. The newly appointed Indian bowling coach seemed highly impressed with his team’s performance in the first match and was all praises for their unique effort.
