Top five bowlers with most runs conceded in an ODI match

In One Day International (ODI) cricket, bowlers often find themselves in the spotlight, not always for the reasons they’d prefer. Occasionally, matches turn into nightmares for bowlers, where every delivery seems to be punished by the batsmen. Here, we take a look at five bowlers who’ve had the misfortune of conceding the most runs in a single ODI match. These bowlers have been taken to the cleaners by the opposition batters on that given day.

Top five bowlers with the most runs conceded in an ODI match:

#5 Rashid Khan:

Known for his leg-spin wizardry, Rashid Khan had a day to forget during the England vs. Afghanistan World Cup 2019 match in Manchester on June 18, 2019. Bowling nine overs, he conceded 110 runs. He did not manage to pick up a single wicket during his spell.

#4 Wahab Riaz:

The former Pakistani fast bowler, Wahab Riaz, experienced a similar ordeal when he gave away 110 runs in 10 overs against England in Nottingham on August 30, 2016. His fiery pace was met with aggressive counterattacks from the English batsmen.

#3 Adam Zampa:

Australian leg-spinner Adam Zampa found the going tough in Centurion against South Africa on September 15, 2023. Despite his usual accuracy, he ended up leaking 113 runs in his 10 overs. He was taken to the cleaners on a good batting wicket with no help for the spinners and on a ground where the ball travels the distance.

#2 ML Lewis:

Another Australian, Mick Lewis, holds the unfortunate record for one of the highest runs conceded in an ODI. On March 12, 2006, in Johannesburg, Lewis bowled 10 overs for 113 runs, a match remembered for South Africa’s massive total.

#1 BFW de Leede:

Topping this list is Bas de Leede from the Netherlands, who managed to take two wickets but at a hefty cost of 115 runs in 10 overs against Australia in Delhi on October 25, 2023, in a World Cup 2023 match. Australian batters took the attacking route against him on a good batting wicket and short boundary size at the Arun Jaitley stadium.
