The fifth T20I between India and England is currently ongoing at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. India have already won the series 3-1, but there are fireworks on display as England won the toss and asked India to bat first. India’s new T20I mantra has been to go right from the first ball irrespective of the fall of wickets.
Much of that has been due to the openers, Sanju Samson and Abhishek Sharma. Samson has failed to perform so far in the series, but Sharma has already shown his breathtaking form. He has been going all guns blazing in the fifth T20I as well, smashing the second fastest half-century by an Indian in T20I’s.
Abhishek Sharma smashed the English bowlers to all parts of the ground
He scored his half-century in just 17 balls. His role model, Yuvraj Singh, smashed the fastest half-century by an Indian in T20I in just 12 balls. Sharma took the attack to the English bowlers right from the start. He charged down the track to Jofra Archer and Mark Wood and started hitting them all over the ground despite the extra pace on offer. It was some clear ball striking on display, and the England bowlers had no clue what had hit them.
At the end of the powerplay, India had scored 95 runs for the loss of one wicket. Sharma was batting on 58 runs off 21 balls with four boundaries and five sixes at the time of writing. The whole social media has been filled with praises for the 24-year-old, who has put on a show at the Wankhede Stadium so far.
However, Sharma did not stop there and continued with his onslaught. He reached his century in just 37 deliveries with five fours and 10 sixes. Abhishek’s innings absolutely blew away the Englishmen as India reached 145-2 in 10.1 overs at the time of writing. The netizens were applauding the sensational innings of Abhishek on Twitter.
