Twitter reacts as Babar Azam rushes to the spot to check after Shaheen Shah Afridi nearly dislocates his thumb

Australia are facing off against Pakistan in the third ODI of the series at the Optus Stadium in Perth. A terrifying incident happened on the field of play when Pakistan pacer, Shaheen Shah Afridi, nearly dislocated his thumb.

The pacer was hit on the left thumb while collecting the ball at the non-striker’s end. This incident really scared the Pakistani fans and the other players.

The incident happened during the 26th over of the innings. The Men In Green were already in the driver’s seat, having picked up six wickets and were looking to break the partnership between Adam Zampa and Sean Abbott. Afridi was called in to bowl in order to break that partnership.

On the third ball over the over, Abbott nudged Shaheen for a single. However, the bowler injured his left thumb while collecting a throw at the non-striker’s end from the mid-wicket region. As fate would have it, Afridi was wriggling in pain after getting hit. Former Pakistan captain, Babar Azam, rushed to the spot to check on him before the physios came to the ground.

Then the physios finally came to the ground to check the injury. Shaheen was able to continue with his bowling. However, the injury looked quite frightening in realtime. Fortunately, it did not cause major harm to the pacer.

Meanwhile, here is how fans reacted to Babar Azam rushing to check in Shaheen’s injury:

Shaheen Shah Afridi picked up three wickets in the game

Coming to the game, Pakistan captain, Muhammad Rizwan, won the toss and elected to field first. They dismissed Australia for 140 runs in 1.5 overs. Afridi bowled 8.5 overs, picked up three wickets and gave away 32 runs.
