The third day of the first Test match of the five-match Test series in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024/25 between Australia and India is currently ongoing at the Optus Stadium in Perth. India’s young opener, Yashasvi Jaiswal, smashed a spectacular century in the second innings of the Test match.
He amassed 161 runs from 297 deliveries with 15 fours and three sixes. Jaiswal was removed for a duck in the first innings, which was his first innings on Australian soil. However, he resurrected his technique perfectly well in the second innings and went on to smash his fourth hundred in Test match cricket.
Jaiswal has scored 1568 runs so far in 28 innings with a stunning average of 58.07. With his four centuries, he has two double-centuries and eight half-centuries. The young batsman has shown amazing promise and has set the stage up for an incredible series Down-Under.

Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul have set the match for Team India
Meanwhile, coming to the match, at the time of writing, India are 321-4 in the second innings and have a lead of 367 runs. Along with Jaiswal, KL Rahul scored 77 runs off 176 deliveries with five boundaries in his innings. India have a strong lead in their bag already after getting bowled out for 150 runs in the first innings and dismissing Australia for 104 runs in their first innings.
The pitch has seemed to ease out, but there will definitely be uneven bounce as the Test match progresses. The cracks on the wicket will open up due to heat and that will definitely aid the uneven bounce on the wicket. Team India will look to bat deep and get a sizeable lead to get Australia out of the game. It remains to be seen where the Test match progresses from here on. However, Jaiswal has definitely taken India to a dominant position in this Test match.
