Cricket is seemingly gaining back its aggression, just like in older times. After the recent biggest buzz in the game being Travis Head and Mohammad Siraj’s misconduct during the Adelaide test, another such incident of heated confrontation on the field has surfaced.

This time between two Indian players, Ayush Badoni, the current Delhi skipper, was seen engaging in a verbal tussle with UP’s all-rounder Nitish Rana during the second quarter-final match of SMAT at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium.

Ever since Ayush Badoni came to bat at the crease, Rana seemed to be poking him with some or the other comment. However, in the 13th over, when Rana bowled his 3rd over of the match, things went out of hand as Badoni clipped a single off Rana and almost collided with the bowler at the other hand.

Badoni also didn’t take Rana’s comments softly, as the umpires needed to intervene to resist the two players. The Delhi boy Nitish Rana is known for such on-field snapping, as many future instances have also been notified over the same.

Both Nitish Rana and Ayush Badoni hail from Delhi, as Rana also played for the state until 2023 before making a move to Uttar Pradesh in 2024.

While Ayush Badoni was retained by the Lucknow Super Giants as an uncapped player ahead of the IPL mega-auction, the ex-KKR all-rounder went on to be picked in the IPL by the Rajasthan Royals for INR 4.20 crores.

In the SMAT quarter-final, when Delhi put on a chase of 194 runs in front of Uttar Pradesh, with much help from Anuj Rawat smashing a quickfire 73 runs.

In the UP innings, Badoni had his revenge on Rana, as the Delhi skipper dismissed his former teammate for just 2 runs off the three balls he faced. Eventually, UP was bowled out for 174 as Delhi took their leap forward into the semis, beating UP by 19 runs at Bengaluru.
