India’s young batter, Ruturaj Gaikwad, experienced a fan worship moment for the first time on Day 2 of the first round fixture between India C and India D at the Rural Development Trust Stadium in Anantapur.
Gaikwad was fielding at mid off when a fan came rushing down from the stands on to the field towards Ruturaj Galway. At that moment the bowler was already running in to deliver the ball. The excited fan came towards Gaikwad, touched his feet and in reply, Gaikwad just placed his hand on his body as if to bless him. The fan quickly ran back to the boundary and was very excited to meet his favourite cricketer.
India’s legendary cricketers like Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and MS Dhoni have time and time again faced these even in international matches and IPL. Fans have rushed to the field to touch their feet. However, given it was for an emerging playing Gaikwad, it will be very special for him.
Ruturaj Gaikwad is one of the next big things for Team India
Coming to the match, the skipper of India C, was dismissed for just 5 runs in the first innings and got out for 46 runs in the second innings. Gaikwad has made his name in the domestic circuit and has already played quite a number of matches in India colours. He is being seen as one of the most important stars for the future Indian team.

Gaikwad has been a mainstay of the CSK batting line-up for years and finally got a chance to captain the side ahead of IPL 2024 as MS Dhoni relinquished his captaincy duties and handed over the reigns to Gaikwad. Gaikwad also led the Indian team to a gold medal win in the Asian Games in 2023. There is no denying that he is definitely a captaincy candidate for the Indian team in the future as well.
