Chennai Super Kings want to bring back an old rule in the IPL 2025 Mega-Auction to retain MS Dhoni
In a recent meeting between the IPL franchises and the governing council, CSK proposed the BCCI to bring back a rule that was in place from IPL 2008 to 2021, but was scrapped as no franchise used it.
The rule states that teams can retain players who have retired from international cricket for over 5 years, as uncapped player. CSK wants to retain MS Dhoni as uncapped player using that rule and, thereby, can retain their core group of international players.
Despite not in the best of form, CSK would want to keep Dhoni because of his immense popularity and big hitting skills. Asked about his future in the IPL, he stated that he wants to take a look at the rules and regulations set by the BCCI for the upcoming IPL Mega Auction before taking a decision on his future. The BCCI is reportedly set to announce the rules by the end of August.
