Former England captain, Michael Vaughan and former India opener, Wasim Jaffer, has had some hilarious banters, over the years, on ‘X’. They have now yet another episode as Jaffer has trolled Vaughan for one of his ‘X’ posts.
On September 2, Vaughan took to X (formerly Twitter) to state his opinion of Test cricket having two divisions and how the money should be distributed fairly across all the Test playing countries. He tweeted: “Test cricket needs to be 2 Divisions of 6 ASAP .. and spread the wealth of the game more evenly across all countries ..”
Today, on September 3, Jaffer has hit back at Vaughan’s tweet a picture of the World Test Championship 2024-25 table which shows England at the bottom of the table. Jaffer wrote, “Timing is everything. And Michael is a wise man who understands that. That’s why he didn’t tweet this a month ago when the WTC table looked like this”.
England seal 2-0 lead in the ongoing Tests against Sri Lanka
England suffered a massive setback in the WTC points table, earlier, this year when they were thumped by the Rohit Sharma-led side at their home by a margin of 4-1. The new Test team of England, which had been revolutionized by head coach Brendon McCullum and captain Ben Stokes, failed to display their effect in India after the first Test match in Hyderabad.

England are currently playing a home Test series against Sri Lanka. They, recently, defeated West Indies in the two Test matches and now have defeated Sri Lanka in the two Test matches as well. They will now take on Sri Lanka in the last game of the series at The Oval, London on September 6.
Ben Stokes is currently out of the team due to the injury that he suffered during the Hundred 2024. Ollie Pope is captaining the side in place of the regular captain. England began the Sri Lanka series with a 5-wicket win in the first Test.
England then registered a comprehensive 190-run win over Sri Lanka in the second Test at Lord’s. The third and final Test is scheduled to take place at Kennington Oval in London, starting 6th September.
