Travis Head has been in exceptional form against the Indian side in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy. In the second Test at Adelaide, he played a remarkable knock of 140 runs off 141 balls, showcasing his aggressive approach. He carried his breathtaking form in the third Test as well, scoring 152 runs off 160 balls in Gabba.

The batter plays a pivotal role in Australia’s batting lineup, continuing his impressive record in Test cricket. His innings, coupled with Steve Smith’s 101, accelerated Australia to a strong total of 405 on Day 2. The pair built a vital fourth-wicket stand of 241 runs, significantly bolstering Australia’s innings.

Jasprit Bumrah, one of the premier fast bowlers of the current generation, dismissed the duo of Steve Smith and Travis Head with his unorthodox bowling action and remarkable accuracy. He delivered a standout performance with a five-wicket haul (5/72) to keep the visitors in contention.

In a recent interview, Travis Head commended the Indian bowler for his exceptional skills and discussed the strategic approach he adopted to counter his challenges on the field.

He stated, “He bowled brilliantly, bowled wicket-taking balls, and was always tough facing up against him. I always enjoyed batting with Steve (Smith); when he bats well, I always go unnoticed. I thought he was moving (his feet) very well; it allowed me to be proactive as well. I just enjoy what I do; I just want to play well for the team, for the guys on the team, and I’m enjoying it.”

Apart from this, Head revealed that he was a bit nervous facing Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja. He said, “I have played enough against India; I’ve had a blueprint, and I was a bit nervous to start against Spin. I was happy with the way I started against him today (on Ravindra Jadeja). The new ball will do something throughout the game; I can’t see too far ahead of the game, but hopefully the weather plays up nicely, but the new ball will be crucial. The top 6 (batting) is setting up nicely, hopeful of doing well in Sri Lanka and getting into the WTC final. Very pleased for Smudge; he has had a lot against him, and it’s nice to see him get back to his best form.”
