The competition was in a sudden-death format. It means that the first participant to score, perform better, or win a round ends the contest instantly. Captain Ben Stokes faced 2 deliveries and was unable to hit six on each of them, whereas coach Brendon McCullum scored six on the second delivery and won the competition.
