Team India registered a 2-0 victory against Bangladesh in the two match Test series with a sensational win in the second Test match at the Green Park Stadium in Kanpur. Only 35 overs were bowled across the first three days with two full days washed out due to rain, but India displayed initiative and mental fortitude to bring the result in their favour.
They bundled out Bangladesh for 233 runs and came out to bat with an aggressive intent. India got going right from the word go as they looked to win the match. Every batter came out to bat with an aggressive intent and India managed to reach 285 for 9 in just 34.4 overs before declaring the innings.
Ravichandran Ashwin then ran through Bangladesh’s top-order as they had lost three for 36. On the final day of Test, Ravindra Jadeja and Bumrah got into the act and bowled out Bangladesh for just 146 runs.
Jasprit Bumrah picked the last three wickets, which included the wicket of the set batter in Mushfiqur Rahim. Jasprit Bumrah picked Mushfiqur Rahim’s wicket with a sensational off cutter that gripped the surface and beat the uppish drive of Rahim to castle the stumps.
Bumrah showed that he has all the tricks up in his armoury. Rahim was looking for quick runs, Bumrah anticipated that and on the final delivery before the lunch break on Day 5, Bumrah’s magical off cutter ended Bangladesh’s innings.
Here’s a look at the video clip:
Team India chased down the 95-run total in 17.2 overs by losing three wickets. Yashasvi Jaiswal recieved the player of the match award for scoring consecutive fifties, while R Ashwin bagged the Player of the Series award.
India’s premier fast bowler, Jasprit Bumrah continued to impress one and all with his sensational bowling display. He finished as the joint highest wicket-taker (11) with Ashwin in the series. Following India’s series win, here’s what he had to say:
“It feels really good. I don’t think about all those adjectives (being called a magician). It is really good to get this win, we had lost a couple of days.. the way we batted yesterday and it was a test for our fitness as well as you see how hot the weather is, bowling every day and trying to create an impact, a really special win. You use your experience but it is easier said than done, because you have played a lot of cricket and played on different surfaces you find solutions, this wicket was completely different to what we got in Chennai, so quickly communicated with the others and tried to find the best option.” Bumrah told host broadcasters.
The two teams will now lock horns in a three-match T20I series, starting 6th October 2024.
