The Day 1 of the second Test match between Pakistan and England is currently ongoing in Multan. Former England captain, Joe Root, adopted an innovative way to shine the red ball.
After COVID-19 pandemic, players can’t use saliva to shine the ball. So, Root tried to shine it by rubbing the ball on the bald head of the English spinner, Jack Leach. The video quickly went viral on social media and fans couldn’t contain their laughter after watching the scene.
It is not the first time that Root has done this. He did the same during England’s tour of Pakistan in 2022 when he rubbed the red cheery on Jack Leach’s head to shine it. Root never shies away from keeping the attention on him whether it is through his brilliant batting or shining the ball through innovative ways.
Pakistan win the toss and elected to bat first in second Test against England in Multan
On the morning of Day 1 of the second Test, Shan Masood, the Pakistani captain, won the toss and elected to bat first on a used pitch.
It is the same strip that was used in the first Test where England beat Pakistan by an innings and 47 runs. At the time of writing, Pakistan have scored 173 runs for the loss of three wickets in 58 overs.
The pitch is expected to have turn in this game as it wears on. It was an absolute batting paradise in Multan in the first Test where England scored 800 plus runs after Pakistan put a total in excess of 550.
Joe Root smashed a 250-plus score and Harry brook scored a triple century. The Pakistani batting order crumbled in the second innings and England registered a famous victory against all odds. The Pakistani superstars with the likes of Babar Azam, Naseem Shah and Shaheen Shah Afridi have been dropped from the final two Test matches.
